Manicure Weekend: Etude House - Why Wine

This week, I would like to introduce this gorgeous color from Etude House - Why Wine.  Just like it's name, it is a pretty burgundy, red wine color nail polish that will not be out of trend all year long.

This nail polish really caught me by surprise. I never expect the application can be so smooth and so easy to apply. Drying time is pretty fast too. The 1st hand to apply is already dried when I completed applying to other hand. So fast!

The color opacity is kind of satisfying as well. 1 layer of nail polish is nearly completely opaque. Some of you may find it sufficient enough for applying 1 layer of this nail polish. For my case, I always prefer 2 layers. Here, as usual, I had my OPI Natural Base Coat as the 1st layer, followed with 2 layers of nail polish and finished it with my favourite Seche Vite Top Coat.

Look how nice and easy for this nail polish to match with any color of outfit. Perfect!

I really really love this nail polish. The deep red color is so flattering. I have 1 word in mind to describe this: Classy!

Nail Trend: White Is The Color!

White color is HIT currently. White eye shadow, white eye liner, white highlighter for cheeks, people wearing white on white and on white. So how could we miss out the white nails? Of course no!

The trend had actually started somewhere end of last year and it is still growing strong. You may feel white nails looked dull or will make your fingers look darker. But, in actual fact, it looks modern, stylish, and most importantly, it matches with any color of outfit even it's white on white. And, white on white is a big deal now. From celebrities to fashion models, you could spot them wearing white nail polishes.

Choosing the correct white nail polish is important. A creme white would be perfect. The effect of sheer white may not be as good as an creme white but you may want to apply a few layers so that it could look more opaque. Thin layer of sheer white would be more suitable for a bridal look rather than to look modern and stylish.

How could I miss out this fashion trend. Of course no, hehe =p. I managed to dig out a white nail polish from my stash. It is a creme white from Skin Food, Nail Vita range (BW704). Here I applied 1 layer of OPI Natural Base Coat, 2 layers of nail polish to reach the opacity and finished it with 1 layer of Seche Vite top coat. I just love how it looks, so clean and nice!

Now get yourself to try out a white nail polish, I bet you will never regret. Furthermore, it's easy to get. There are so many brands that have white nail polish, in fact, different tones of whites. From Chanel, Dior, Estee Lauder, Deborah Lippmann, OPI, Essie, Zoya, China Glaze down to Faceshop, Etude House, Lioele and Skin Food, all of them have white color nail polishes.

Happy exploring people. =)

Manicure Weekend: Essence - The Boy Next Door

When it comes to weekend, I'll opt for crazy color for my nails. This true blue color is from Essence - The Boy Next Door. I got this from Watson at RM8.90 if I remembered correctly.

Blue color is quite tricky to wear. It would make your fingers look darker if you get the wrong tone. I've tried a few blue tones but couldn't get the correct ones until I read an article from Beautylish. Here are the tips:

  • Fair Skin Tone - you could opt for lighter shades such as baby blue, aqua, or light pastel blue
  • Medium Skin Tone - like most of us Asian skin tone, you could go for those blue colors with warmer undertones
  • Dark Skin Tone - Navy color such ask dark blue, or dark blue-grey would be appropriate.

For details, you could go to Beautylish and search for the title Best Blue Polish For Your Skin Tone.

Back to this nail polish that I'm wearing. It's a blue color with a warmer undertone. So, it suits my skin tone. My fingers won't look darker or reddish. Here, I applied 1 layer of OPI Natural Base Coat, 2 layers of nail polish and finished it with 1 layer of Seche Vite top coat.

I pretty like the brush of this nail polish. It is slightly shorter and flatter than the normal nail polish brush. The edge of the brush is rounded and it's easy to apply. And, the best part of this nail polish is that it don't really stain my nails. Majority of blue colors will stain your nails and the removing process takes longer time than other colors. For this, I don't face these problems. I've wore this for a week time previously and hey, no stain and no problem removing it.

However, there is a down side as well. This is my second time using this nail polish but it had started to show signs of drying up. Goop! It was kind of difficult to apply. I wonder whether it is the packaging that caused this. When I first opened the bottle, I felt that the packing is not air tight enough for a nail polish.

Anyone using Essence nail polish in a different packaging? Do you face the same problem that I'm facing? Share your thought in the comments. I would like to find out whether it is the packaging or the nail polish itself or it's me that didn't take good care of it.

Love For Manicure

Well, I couldn't remember when I started to love painting my nails. Perhaps, after watching a few episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians? Lol, couldn't blame me for saying that. They have their nails painted most of the time. It actually looks cool, in my opinion at least.

I've been thinking for quite awhile whether I should have a blog to share on my nail polishes. Well, not only nail polishes. I may blog about other stuffs if I came across something that I would like to share. So, after thinking and thinking here I am, my 1st blog!

This would be the 1st nail polish I purchased to begin my nail painting journey, BR802 from Face Shop. Here, I applied OPI Natural Base Coat, 2 coats of nail polish to reach the opacity and finished it with Seche Vite top coat. The application is quite ok for the price paid. Drying time is quite reasonable too. With the super top coat (yes, that's how I call it) it could last for approximately 3 - 4 days.

I would say this nail polish is quite worth for the price paid. This bottle had been with me for around 2 years and there is still no sign of drying up. However, there is a down side of this nail polish. The color looks a little dull even with the top coat. I wish it could be a little bit more "lively". It would be perfect then.

Yup, dark brown is pretty bold for a 1st timer but hey, no harm taking some risk. It actually made me realized that I could carry bold colors, not only the more conservative nude ones that I've always thought.

Do you plan to start painting your nails? Well, don't be afraid to take some risk. Try something different and bold, you may find it fun.

What is the color you had when you 1st started falling in love painting your nails? How is the experience like? Share with me in the comments. =)

That's it for this round. Stay tune for more swatches. Bye.
